In Japan, the latest flavours for Kit Kat are "Yaki Cream Cheese". In Japanese, "yaki" means baked, toasted, grilled, roasted, etc. (BTW, yes, this is the same "yaki" in takoyaki..which in direct translation means octopus that is baked). Unfortunately, these are ONLY available in the Kit Kat boutique located in Tokyo.
The outside of the Kit Kat apparently stays crunchy was the inside is moist and delicious. I'm already hooked and am dying to try one.
If you toast the Kit Kats for TOO long, the oil in the chocolate will burn causing the entire treat to go up in flames.
Apparently, if you chill the Kit Kats beforehand, they will keep their shape better. And, in case you get a hold of these unique and delicious bars, the ideal time for baking is between
two and two and a half minutes.
Of course, there is also an instructional video to demonstrate just exactly how to bake them. See below:
I know this is a special flavour of Kit Kat but I wonder if you could do it simply with a normal Kit Kat bar? Can't wait to go home to try!
