Keeffaa Coffee

Keeffaa is definitely one of Toronto's greatest hidden gems. On the quiet street of Queen Street East, you'll find this Ethiopian restaurant that serves in our opinion one of the best coffees we have ever had. This restaurant is perfect for lunch with friends, family, or colleagues.

Where: 368 Queen St E., Toronto, ON
Price: $
Upon entering the restaurant, you really get a sense that they are (and support) appreciate local businesses. Their walls are adorned with local artists' paintings and the whole place had a very homey feel to it.

One note about service: The owner is absolutely amazing. She is seriously the friendliest lady ever and you felt like you were greeting an old friend at their house rather than at a restaurant. We didn't know what to order because we were all very new to Ethiopian food so we asked her for a bunch of recommendations that would fill 5 people. To be honest, we still don't know the exact menu item names so please bear with us as we try to describe them for you!

One of the best (and scariest) parts about letting someone else order is that you really don't know what you'll be getting. What if you hate it? What if it was too spicy? We didn't know what we were getting so when a HUGE plate of vegetable platter came out, we were a little nervous but very excited. The platter had a stewed lentil salad, beetroot salad, kale and spinach followed by another lentil salad that had around 17 spices! Every single vegetable mixture was AMAZING and the spices were so perfectly well balanced and very new to our tastebuds. The quantity was perfect for five people and we even had leftovers so it was definitely more than enough!

Throughout the meal we got Ginger Tea ($4) and the owner constantly kept refilling it! She is honestly the sweetest :) Finally, to finish off the meal, we had the Almond/Coconut Latte ($3.75) and the Mexican Hot Chocolate ($5) which were SO good. There was coconut milk in the hot chocolate and man.
